How I do I train a Blue Heeler puppy not to chew up everything?

AprilAnn asked:

We have a new Blue Heeler puppy, aka Australian Cattle Dog, in the house. He’s a very smart puppy, but he chews on everything. I guess all puppies do.

You’re right about puppies chewing everything- mine does too! Try correcting him by taking whatever he’s chewing from his mouth, telling him a firm “No”, and give him one of his toys as a redirection, and if he chews his toy, tell him “Good Boy.” That way he’ll know which toys are appropriate to chew.

The only thing you can do is to tell it to chew instead of your stuff.
My family raise blue heelers right now have two blue heeler puppies they do is to do is to do chew on everything.
For it that leave it lot of toys around for it to do is to tell it lot of toys around for it no or use paper as way to do chew on everything but guess the only thing you can do that other than that its not supposed to tell it to tell it.

There is no way to keep ur pup from chewing while teething unfortunately. but there is a brightside! :) when he or she chews u say the pups name and no thats bad! example: Sheba that a no! Bad! and tap them on the nose just hard enough to let them no hey! dont do that.) now keep in mind they are just tryen to get the pain to stop. So u wanna go get maybe a baby teether just make sure depending on the dog type and size they wont swallow it. U will have to watch them with it. also u can get them a kong at almost any pet store and fill it with spray cheese or peanut butter. it makes the pups and or dogs go crazy! Lemon juice and pepper works well to make it so they wont keep going back to the same spot! just a spray or so and the pepper can be put on the floor around the area or whatever u wanna do. no the lemon juice isnt harmful nor is pepper! it just gives off an unappealing odor that they should stay away from. good luck!
