How do you be firm with a 9 month old puppy without yelling/ or tapping on nose.
Sometimes when I am on the couch and I want him away from me such as I am eating, should I just ignore him if hes close to be or say NO kind of loud and low. I have done this and he doesn’t listen. I admit, I have tapped him on the nose not too hard though and he did respect me then but isn’t there another way? I do enroll in puppy classes in a few weeks.

Dogs are pack animals and you need to show them you are the leader of the pack. Make distinctions between you and him. do not let him on beds or couches with you make him sleep on the floor. Eat before he does and only give him food after you have eaten, the leader must always eat first. Be consistent with him and make sure everyone else in the family does the same.
